To understand how to have better relationships and sex, it’s helpful to break from scripts that society writes for us about what we’re “supposed” to have, do, or not do, like not talk about intimacy, sex, and relationships.

We’ll start by discussing mainstream culture as Normative Culture, that is culture that interprets the world for us, pushing us towards one set of ideas and away from all others. Good or bad, normal or abnormal, correct or incorrect, the world is more than binaries. You can think of this as culture that describes some as good people for doing normal actions and others as bad people doing abnormal actions.

Later, we’ll consider alternative ways to act that enrich our lives and allow us access to better sex, intimacy, and ultimately relationships.
